WRITING FOR MOVEMENT BASED THEATRE

Venue: Göteborgs Stadsteater
Time: 5 October: 10.00-11.30
No tickets needed
In collaboration with Scenkonstguiden and Mimplattformen.
The talk will be held in English

Companies and artists working with movement based theatre are often asked how they create work for the stage.
Do they have a script? Is it an adaptation of a novel? Sometimes, yes, most of the time, no!
And, is it possible to preserve or keep an archive of the ephemeral nature of movement based theatre for our next generations?

Join us for a talk with national and international artists on how they “write” plays without necessarily “writing” anything at all (in the traditional sense).

(SVENSKA)

-Founder & Artistic Director of Theatre Re
Guillaume Pigé is a Theatre Director, Teacher and Producer. Originally from France, he has been living in the UK for the past 15 years. He established Theatre Re in 2011 and has directed each of the company’s productions to date. He trained with theatre makers and directors such as Andrew Visnevski, Steven Wasson, Corinne Soum, Daniel Stein and Thomas Leabhart.
Rooted in Etienne Decroux’s Corporeal Mime, his practice takes inspiration from science, philosophy, psychology and public health to address global human challenges through moving and visually striking poetic theatre.
Through Etienne Decroux’s Corporeal Mime and the study of articulation – space, body, rhythms, and weight – we will explore how the smallest things take on a larger significance, and become more than what they are. We will learn to own and play with physical details, develop new material, and push the boundaries of what theatre, without a playwright, can do.
