A poignant solo exploring isolation, a fractured world, and a mind on the brink of collapse.

Deep within an existential basement dwells a solitary figure. Here, dreams flicker and fade, while sleepless nights are haunted by intrusive thoughts. Memories carve treacherous grooves into the floorboards, and the radio burbles an endless stream of absurdly threatening news.

This tragicomic production weaves seamlessly together eloquent movement, rich visual metaphors and immersive soundscapes. Melding a timeless aesthetic with urgent contemporary themes, The Basement delivers a haunting portrait of humanity drowning in information while destroying its own habitat.

“A truly harrowing physical-spatial portrait of the modern world
with its absurdly threatening twists and turns,
that are increasingly hard to keep up with.”
– Voima

“The Basement feels more timely the more I think about it.
I too would like to shut the door, the windows and my own ears,
when all I can hear outside is storms, war, misery and horror.”
– Kujerruksia

“Honkakoski’s movement is a pleasure to watch.
It is fluid, strong and intelligent.”
– T-efekti
