SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED is a tragicomic performance of a world that has been allowed to drift apart for too long, where citizens are busy controlling life in an attempt to survive. On stage are two women in a terrifying zone. Incomprehensible things intrude and demand their attention. Although in a terrible mess, the women struggle with the symptoms of our time.

SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED balances between control and collapse, at the intersection of physical theater, performance art and dance. Through physical and visual staging, a tragicomic web of absurdities and unexpected approaches is created.

With a common background in Sören Larsson’s physical theatre, Fia Adler Sandblad and Annika B Lewis continue to explore deeply human themes. Over many years, they have developed a practice that manages the heritage of a physical theater tradition with great sensitivity. They share a deep fascination for the borderlands between man and nature and for the possibilities that emerge when hard structures give way. With inspiration from theatre maker and writer Samuel Beckett and the film maker Roy Andersson, they create visual, multifaceted and absurd performances about the complexity of life.

The production is support by the Swedish Arts Council, Swedish Arts Grants Committee, City of Gothenburg, Region Västra Götaland, Danish Arts Foundation, Svante Bergström’s Teaterstiftelse and ABF.
