A physical theatre piece that shows the poetic, aesthetic, and humorous dimensions that exist beyond our current depictions and expectations of aging.

2025 marked the 50th jubilee of Claire Heggen’s research and artistry on the theatricality of the body in movement. On this special occasion, Claire Heggen created a piece that deals with the intricate body of an elderly person. Through three variations on the theme of aging she approaches the poetic, aesthetic, and humorous dimensions that exist beyond our current depictions and expectations of aging.

Personal direct quote from the artistic director about the work and its place in the company’s repertoire.
Forty years ago, Claire Heggen created the solo Im/mobile using a puppet version of herself, her older double.
The desire came to her to return to this puppet, thus completing a 40-year trajectory. This time, we are identical, the puppet and I. We joined in age, at a time when the time for taking stock and growing old begins.

Today, she uses it again to explore her own aging process,
and to confront her personal feelings with social, moral and political conventions in this
age of planned obsolescence.

Who is the double of the other?
Who is this woman in front of her?
Who is this creature she won’t recognize as herself?
Who is this woman who attracts her, amazes her, questions her and who might make her afraid?

The double bias allows one to confront oneself, one’s age, and the social and political conventions surrounding this age of planned obsolescence…
