From Individual Impulse to Collective Body
How can an individual action transform into a collective reaction? How can a group of performers function not merely as a sum of bodies, but as a single, unified stage organism?

“From Individual Impulse to Collective Body” is an intensive workshop on corporeal mime and physical creation, focusing on the relationship between technique, movement dramaturgy, and choral composition. The work will draw upon tools developed by Mai Rojas and Los Escultores del Aire, rooted in their performance practice and creative processes.

Through the study of “dynamo-rhythms,” we will investigate how speed, intensity, interruption, and energy distribution alter the way an action is perceived. We will explore various action-reaction dynamics based on principles of causality: Agreement, Resistance, and Rejection.

The work will proceed through processes of stylization and amplification — starting with clear, legible actions and situations — to progressively transform and unlock new poetic possibilities. Ultimately, these tools will culminate in a choral composition laboratory. The group will explore mechanisms such as propagation, echo, contrast, synchrony, accumulation, and transformation to construct a brief, collective physical piece. The goal is not to learn a specific choreography or replicate a particular aesthetic, but rather to experience a creative methodology.
