Nola’s workshop will be an insight into how to work without text, paying special attention to the rhythm of movement and how to move the body to express ideas physically, with maximum clarity. The aim of the workshop will be to build a character that is not trying to be funny, but just is.
All parts of the body (and mind) will come into play. Language will be discouraged, but not necessarily sounds.

The student will have a chance to discover aspects of the clown that are universal, as well as individual to them.

For Whom: This class is for the enthusiastic student of visual comedy, professional or amateur, who is reasonably fit and not afraid to move.

Nola Rae is trained at the Royal Ballet School in London and with Marcel Marceau in Paris.
She has created 10 solo shows and 5 two man shows to date and her long performing career has taken her to 68 countries.
As a director, she has adapted works by Shakespeare, Strindberg, Ibsen, Dumas and Bram Stoker among others, winning the funniest play of the year award in Sweden for her version of Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba.
Nola has performed and taught many times at the London International Mime Festival which she founded with Joseph Seelig in 1977.
